Part 1 – How to Find the Right Niche for Affiliate Marketing?
Narrowing down on a niche is one of the most daunting steps in an affiliate marketer’s journey. But it’s a step that can’t be disregarded or hurried through. Before even finding a niche, there is a vital step to be considered and put to work. Check Factor 1 of this article to understand what I am talking about.
You might have heard by many internet marketers that picking niches for your affiliate marketing that pay good commissions and are highly converting. Although it is true to some sense, but if such a niche is right for you is questionable. Making good commissions requires how much value you as a marketer have to offer to your audience as well, it doesn’t matter if the niche pays the best commissions. Before you embark your journey, I recommend you ask the following questions to yourself before thinking of getting on board of a niche.

Additionally, finding the right niche is the key to tapping into a strong buyer’s market that’s not saturated with competition where YOU and only YOU can convert audience into sales the most. Here is the list of 5 crucial factors that you may want to heed to before narrowing down on a niche for your affiliate marketing venture.
- Factor 1 – Find An Audience First!
In many cases, you would have heard of marketers recommending you to pick the niche first and then your audience. I am not saying they are wrong, but what has worked for me is to go otherwise i.e. identification of the audience first and then the niche pertaining to it. For example, if you plan to target people who want to ‘make passive income’, that target group becomes too broad to reach out to. Be specific and take you narrow down on your target. The same group of audience who intend to ‘make passive income’ can be narrowed even further – for example ‘how retirees can make passive income online’. By keeping your marketing campaigns ultra focused within an audience, you will be able to generate your messaging, marketing materials and content specific to a narrowed audience with specific needs and desires. By doing so, your messaging will be focused and the audience will be able to connect with it more quickly because they feel like you are talking their mind, as a friend.
- Factor 2– Evergreen Niche is The Key
Key to maintaining momentum and witness growth in your affiliate income is by choosing niches that elicit demand from your audience all through the year. Affiliate products/programs exist from across hundreds of niches, but there are only some that are not fads/trends or seasonal in nature. They are also known as evergreen niches. Some of the key niches that are always in demand no matter what the market condition is, include – ‘Weight loss’, ‘Lifestyle Business Opportunities/How to make money on the internet from home’, ‘E-business/E-marketing’, ‘Licensed Software’ etc. Examples – What Niches Remain Ever Green?
- Products from an evergreen niche like ‘e-Business/e-Marketing’ will always have huge demand because people currently are and will always look for ways to make money online. Audience for this niche range from students, stay-at-home-moms, unemployed individuals, affiliate marketers etc. Affiliate marketing being an online venture, making money on the internet will always have global importance, agnostic to market conditions, geography and demography.
- Weight loss niche – No matter what, there will always be a section of people who would gain weight as time pass by and are looking forward to come across products that can help them lose weight. For this reason, weight loss niche has remained one of the most lucrative and attractive destination niches for internet/online marketers.

It is ideal to have or gain knowledge of the the niche and product you are promoting as an affiliate. In order to relate to the niche, you should have access to enough information, so that you can deliver additional value to your audience. In case you want to know more about the niche, you should at-least have enough information available over the internet so that you understand what you are doing. Some niches have remained ever green for there is no dearth in information made available to affiliate marketers. Affiliate programs, especially ones that offers products in the ‘e-business’ niche, provide FREE training to their affiliates, while making available tons of content to them constantly. This makes your life easier as an affiliate marketer, where you can go market ready within days of registering for affiliation. It is crucial that your affiliate promotions are targeted at the right audience. In order to do so, there exists a variety of traffic channels that includes search engines (organic & paid), paid marketing channels – social media, Solo ads, Email marketing etc. But the kind of audience one can reach out to may vary with channels. Before considering a niche, be sure if the product owner offers you training and strategies on how to get right traffic to your promotions. Once you have finalized on a niche that suits you, it is time you search for a good affiliate program and register for affiliation. When you have a list of affiliate programs in your niche, be sure you rank them based on the qualities that are ideal for a program.
